looK INside is an episodic 2.5D game in which Manon, a 16-year-old girl, discovers a book summarizing the events and personalities of her family members from the 1950s to the present day. Page after page, she will dive into scenes that have marked the daily life of her ancestors and learn more about them while reconstructing a family tree.
Our intention with looK INside is to provide a peaceful experience. It’s a calm game that doesn’t contain any brutal family mystery or investigation per se. We want to invite the player to stroll serenely in carefully hand-drawn environments playing on nostalgia and the feeling of well-being.
The game is developed by three women in the Montpellier studio Unexpected: Audrey Hess, artist, Ambre Lacour, programmer and Lauriane Aveline, producer.
“We wanted to talk about what we know so well and so badly at the same time: our own family. We took a kindly look at our loved ones and their stories. I think we have created characters with whom it is possible to identify or identify people around him. ”- Lauriane Aveline, producer.
Chapter 1 of the game (about 2h30 of gameplay) is available on Steam for Windows.
