Dime Studios announced new game, “Lethal Lawns: Competitive Mowing BLOODSPORT” is coming to Steam (Linux, Mac, Windows), March 30, 2018.
Australian developers Dime Studios make it official that Lethal Lawns, their absurd new local multiplayer party game about the vicious bloodsport of Competitive Lawn Mowing, is coming to Steam (Linux, Mac, Windows) on March 30th, 2018, with consoles planned soon after.
Lethal Lawns combines the relaxation of gardening outdoors with the hyper gratuitous violence of a gladiatorial bloodsport.
Players push lawn mowers around arenas, fighting to mow grass and mow each other, trying to kill each other by mowing the character at the back of the push mowers.
There’s a tight bounce-n-joust gameplay dynamic as players bump their mowers into each other, in an attempt to outmaneuver their opponent and hit their character.
Players win by mowing grass or killing opponents, with the rules changing depending on the selected game mode.
At launch, Lethal Lawns will feature 4 game modes to play in 5 arenas, each with their own unique layouts and hazards, with more content to follow.
While Lethal Lawns supports singleplayer against A.I, the gameplay is best enjoyed as a chaotic addition to your local multiplayer get together, where the players can experiment with the different modes, rules and arenas.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Lethal Lawns began as an experiment to see if we could make a game, start to finish, in 3 months. We’ve been working on and off another party game, Blockpocalypse, for around 3 years now, and needed a break project. We started prototyping on November 24th 2017, and on March 30th the game is coming out. So… just over 4 months; but the extra few weeks has been enough to really move the game from prototype to product.
ABOUT THE INSPIRATION
The idea for Lethal Lawns started as an internal lunchtime discussion about how boring and laborious mowing your yard can be.
After brainstorming some extreme alternatives, such as using a flamethrower, grenades, clotheslining the grass with a long wire… we reached an idea that met the requirements of being interesting and relaxing.
Competitive Lawn Mowing. As a spectator, you’re entertained by the event, AND at the end you have a freshly cut (and blood soaked) lawn.
